On June 30, 1973, in honor of the 200th anniversary of constitutional government with representation, the Legislative Council of the British Virgin Islands issued its first official coinage. The exotic birds of the Islands were selected as the subject for these historic coins.
Each cover includes one coin and the matching stamp, the coins being of the $1, 50-, 25-, 10-, 5-, and 1-cent denominations. Each envelope has a certificate of authenticity printed on the back.
